Maintaining an outward appearance of wellness while you suffer on the inside takes so much time, money and energy.  Trying to hide, minimise and control problems likely gave them greater power over your life.

From the first consultation, you will have a safe place to admit your truth. We meet for treatment, you have an opportunity to remove your mask at your own pace and experience true acceptance.

Therapy with me is designed to model the unconditional love that you will learn to give to yourself. By taking the challenge to do things differently, you can begin to break free of the stagnant cycles that have invaded your life.

You will learn how your inner child wants and needs to be loved. And we will work together to identify how you can make yourself the center of your world, the way you deserve to be. Once you experience that true, deep love and safety, it is much easier to relax and focus your gifts on living the life you want.

And my role is to support you in self-liberation.

Like a massage for your soul, I structure therapy sessions so that we can lavish care on the parts of you that are the most wounded.

These are often the parts that society has trained you to be ashamed of – the areas where you have internalized bigotry.  The areas where your thoughts tell you that you are flawed. The parts of you that you have wanted to cut off or escape from.

Instead of running away from these areas, we will gently connect with and bring love to these places…until you can allow them to safely and harmoniously inhabit body.

We will use many kinds of spa-like practices, including aromatherapy, self-massage, rocking, humming, music, water, movement and other resources.

Meeting online has its advantages…

It gives me deep access to your world in a way that in-office therapy can not.

With online therapy, you can have your sessions where you struggle most, maybe in your office or bedroom, so that we can transform those places into safe spaces for healing.

If you and your partner have arguments while preparing meals in the kitchen, we can meet while you prepare a meal. If your OCD symptoms often increase when you visit your parent’s home, we can meet at their home .

And if I’m helping you learn to reduce emotional flooding high-stress job, you can meet with me in your office. I can support you in real time as you read through triggering e-mails.

About Me

I have loved psychology since I was 16.

That’s when I read my first article on psychotherapy techniques.

I loved the information, but it bothered me that all of the therapists and definitions of “normal” were white, male, cis and straight.

So, I made it my mission to snatch the torch and focus on helping BIPOC and LGBTQ+ people heal.

Some of my education and experience…

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pomona College, during which I studied in the Caribbean to learn about psychological wellness in different cultural contexts. While I completed my senior thesis I was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach in South Korea, where I researched the psychology of creativity.

When I returned to the U.S., I worked with multiple research institutions on legal advocacy and health disparities in LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I left research to earn my Master of Social Work (MSW) at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs.

Since graduation, I have spent more than ten years supporting the mental health of children, adults and families in the U.S. and around the world, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Mexico, Spain, Rwanda, Nigeria, Peru and others.

I’ve also invested deeply into my mental health.

I know what it is like to move from surviving to thriving. I am an African-American woman born into a working-class family and raised in the impoverished parts of South Central Los Angeles. All of my 2nd great-grandparents were born into slavery here in the U.S. I was raised by a single father because my mother could not be present for me as a child.  And yet, I was the first in my family lineage to earn a graduate degree.   I am also the first woman business owner in my lineage.

I did not have the luxury to stop everything and focus on healing. 

I know what it is like to create success in the midst of struggle. I was able to claim the right to love my whole self, flaws and all.  I am excited to bring you the best of what I have learned professionally and personally.

When I’m not in session…

I feel joy in all the ways that I love.

I listen to science fiction audiobooks.

I dance Samba for fun and performances.

I listen to my favorite stand-up comedians.

I visit planetariums and dream of a safe, inclusive future.

I play my violin, the instrument I taught myself to play at 13.

I connect with community to share love, joy and mutual support.

I continue to study the healing arts, including psychotherapy, yoga and coaching techniques.
